   @domi @lanodan i still find it kinda amusing that alpine actually still maintains an s390x port (do people actually really use it?)

   of course i still think that obtaining an s390x mainframe and turning it into a desktop linux machine would be an ultimate flex

     @q66 @domi IIRC Alpine received help from IBM for stuff like Rust back when py3-crypography moved to Rust without any prior warning, so it has uses.
     And I guess s390x can use containers too (although probably not dockerhub stuff).
     
     Desktop use though? Probably none.

     @lanodan @domi i've had multiple people tell me that you can't put a gpu in an s390x mainframe but nobody could ever tell me exactly why

     i know for sure that these things do have pcie bays, so at one point in my life i want to take an s390x mainframe, one of my ancient radeons that still work on bug endian, and get a desktop linux going
