@drscriptt its a kluge if you have to plug adapters into adapters... become mechanically difficult to mount, etc. I'll certainly try that as a prototype. Not sure if I find the time to do a circuit board Design for an integrated adapter from #rpi5 PCIe FPC to legacy PCI slot. The bridge chips are available in quantity from stock at distributors...

@LaF0rge @drscriptt mechanically it may even make sense to build this as a PCI card (with the RPI on top) that slides into a standard passive PCI backplane?

@__michaelg @drscriptt passive PCI backplanes are not so common these days, but indeed it's a nice idea. Makes me think of industrial computers 25 (and more) years ago...
