will be interesting to see, but very odd that a company in 2024 would allow someone to go from manager to CEO.

Also explains why he probably got shot - not paranoid like the rich elite that know everyone hates them.

@Jewpacabra @abner yeah, I mean I'm not so interested in that. It's possible that if he was indeed a gud boy who done made it, he would have actually tried slightly reforming the system. But we don't know details on that, and it could also just be bullshit with a good name.

The part of the story that to me seems odd is him rising from manager to CEO. Most companies explicitly want to hire outside CEOs nowadays.

@abner @sickburnbro “Value-based Care” sounds like some commie gobbledygook that would end up with higher rates for me and more squatemalans with free treatment

@abner @sickburnbro it’s probably just propaganda meant to make people feel guilty for not caring tbh. I doubt he was doing anything substantially “against the grain”

He was CEO for 3.5 years btw, seems suspect that he'd try reforming the system in the near future and not any time before

@sapphire @Jewpacabra @abner the whole "preventative care will save us money" thing has been what they were trying to sell since, iirc pre obamacare.

@Jewpacabra @sickburnbro @abner you’re pretty much right, it’s focusing on making people feel warm and fuzzy over their healthcare, at least best I can tell from this corpo jargon wiki page https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value-based_health_care

        Value-based health care
Value-based health care (VBHC) is a framework for restructuring health care systems with the overarching goal of value for patients, with value defined as health outcomes per unit of costs. The concept was introduced in 2006 by Michael Porter and Elizabeth Olmsted Teisberg, though implementation efforts on aspects of value-based care began long before them in the 1990s. With patient value as the overarching goal, VBHC emphasizes systematic measurement of outcomes and costs, restructuring provider organizations, and transitioning toward bundled payments. Within this framework, cost reduction alone is not seen as proper strategy for healthcare systems: health outcomes have to improve to enhance value. Although value-based health care is seen as a priority in many health systems worldwide, a global assessment in 2016 found many countries are only beginning to align their health systems with VBHC-principles. Additionally, several studies report incoherent implementation efforts, and there seem to be various interpretations of VBHC, both within and across countries. Description In a value-based care model, providers would work...

@Jewpacabra @abner @sickburnbro By covering preventive services, wellness visits and treatments such as medications to control blood pressure or diabetes at low to no cost, V-BID plans may save money by reducing future expensive medical procedures.

Yep, they’re gonna make your life saving surgery 100x more expensive so you can fund sheboons getting insulin
