Some evil shit I learned of from another person's toots: https://www.yivi.app/en/how_yivi_works/
(Separate post not reply because apparently they don't want their thread to be "facilitating this is evil" despite that is.)

Capitalism's response to threats to anonymity & basic access to the internet: not "fuck no", but "sign us up to be the cop!" 🤬
@FeralRobots I think you're missing what it does. They highlight password manager type functionality as selling point to public when the real function is locking you out without verification of government identity and age.
@dalias Improve the UX & you could get Keepass to do a lot of this. (I already use Keepass as a store for random info like license keys.)
@dalias yeh I'm really just trying to highlight that there could be an OSS alternative that does what they're selling without any of the issues that go along with using them. (I know, nobody's gonna clean up Keepass like that.)
@FeralRobots An OSS alternative that acts as third party escrow holding proof of gov id and age? No, that's not possible because OSS is software not a third party.
@dalias I am missing what it does, then. I don't get any of that from the website (not doubting it's there, I'm just not seeing it).
