@bicmay @ProPublica No doubt. I suspect making patients more overwhelmed is part of the strategy.
I just had a small example where a provider's online bill pay site doesn't update immediately after making a payment; it takes a few days for manual processing. And, so if you go to the site again, it gives no indication of the payment and lets you pay again.

I suspect that part of their business model is to hope people pay their bills without contesting them. Everyone should contest their bills and make sure they billing is accurate! Unfortunately, a lot of Americans are juggling multiple responsibilities to survive and don't have the bandwidth to do this.

@bicmay @ProPublica perhaps patients should be more aggressive in doing this and make the process more costly for insurers? Or do you think they would retaliate?
