IBM once had the concept of the "field replaceable unit". Almost the whole machine was made up of FRU's, thousands of them. Some of them were even hot-pluggable, you didn't have to shut down to replace them.
Now the whole thing is glued together, and no part of it can be replaced. The computer is the FRU. If the display has a crack, or the power supply connector is worn out, you throw it away and get a new one.- Another Linux Walt Alt and Fish of Rage like this.
