     @quinn The newsroom has never been sustainable on its own, though. Only a small number of them have ever made money. They had to be combined with something else that did.

     @djohngo it was the three legged stool model: classified ads (which craig destroyed) regular ads (which google destroyed) and subscribers (which facebook destroyed) it was never a way to get rich, but you could live before all of that.

     @quinn One of my local papers got bought by Jeff Bezos, the other got bought by Sinclair. Seems like the only way to stay afloat right now is to shill for right wing billionaires. Hopefully a new model will emerge, but I'm pessimistic.
