     @threalist i tell this story too often but american healthcare used to be cheap, some homeopaths wanted to start making voluntary metaregulators, and rockefeller came by and zipped it all up as a government monopoly instead. plus had everyone thrown out that he wasn't invested in.
     
     lot of work also by intellectual yet idiot 'doctors' who just wanted line go up, going after all the mechanisms that was making it hard for them to overcharge people (see: lodge practice, the prevalence of health co-ops)

     'Mixed economy' or 'third-way' is what they call it now that smiley-face western democracies do it. When Mussolini invented "the merger of state and corporate power", he called it "fascism".
