@waifu steam has digital handcuffs and does great disservices to it customers - it just somehow manages to be much less bad than any of the companies on the left. - Jeff "never puts away anything, especially oven mitts" Cliff, Bringer of Nightmares 🏴☠️🦝🐙 🇱🇧🧯 🇨🇦🐧 likes this.

@Nudhul@shitposter.world @Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com while it is technically true that steam has DRM, it is basically nonexistent. It is expected from a free software extremist, which i also am, the thing is that you have to be also inside the system in order to destroy it

@Nudhul >digital rousseauians
>Look up Rosseau
>He was critical of the concept of private property.
>Valve is actually critical of private property, as they seize your computer and put it under their control, via their proprietary software. -

@waifu @Nudhul >while it is technically true that steam has DRM, it is basically nonexistent.
The cognitive dissonance required to write such a contradictory sentence is incredible.
Digital handcuffs are digital handcuffs, even if they're trivial to shatter.
>you have to be also inside the system in order to destroy it
You have to use computers to destroy proprietary software, but running proprietary software for any reason other than getting rid of it reinforces it rather than destroys it, but even then, often the best way to destroy proprietary software is to never run it. -

@Suiseiseki rousseau's noble savage myth is the root of communist BS, socialist hippie nonsense and the idea that everyone should do things without compensation for their time or effort because before civilization everyone was happy and satisfied and safe and whatever.
btw you are extremely annoying and the reason why nobody likes linuxfags because you all ignore the practicalities of the shit you argue for.
also the linux kernal has a backdoor exploit installed by the CIA so you're still niggercattle even without proprietary software. -

@Nudhul >rousseau's noble savage myth is the root of communist BS, socialist hippie nonsense
You are the only one who thought of communism and mentioned it, thus the only commie here appears to be you.
>the idea that everyone should do things without compensation for their time or effort
Proprietary software companies are of the opinion that people should pay for the "privilege" of wasting their time and effort to be the slave of the proprietary master and serve their interests.
Even slave drivers usually at least gave their slaves food and less evil masters gave the slaves some money - it's incredibly that so many people are lining up for, or being effectively coerced into paying to become a slave.
My opinion is that programmers should to ask for payment before programming anything if they wish, as they do deserve to be rewarded for writing useful software.
By the same lieu, programmers also deserve to be punished if they write harmful software like proprietary malware and implement digital handcuffs that is used to enslave people.
>the reason why nobody likes linuxfags
GNU/Jihad against the proprietary kernel known as "Linux"!!!!!!!
>all ignore the practicalities of the shit you argue for.
Everything I argue for is practical, any so called "impracticalities" only exist because of artificial proprietary sabotage.
>the linux kernal
Linux is only a kernel - please do not imply it is an OS.
>has a backdoor exploit installed by the CIA
It wouldn't surprise me if the proprietary version of Linux has a backdoor, considering how much proprietary software is in it, but I run GNU Linux-libre, meaning that any of such backdoors have been removed. -

@Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com @Nudhul@shitposter.world Digital handcuffs are digital handcuffs, even if they're trivial to shatter.I'm not saying they're not, I'm literally on your side but you push so hard you end up convincing no one, not pragmatic in the least.
Of course they're digital handcuffs, but if they're easy to shatter, they're better than to have hard to shatter ones that basically mean you don't have any freedom left.You have to use computers to destroy proprietary software, but running proprietary software for any reason other than getting rid of it reinforces it rather than destroys it, but even then, often the best way to destroy proprietary software is to never run it.You misunderstood what I meant, if you wanna convince normal people and have more free software you gotta bring people from the middle into it by understanding what are their digital needs and providing solutions. -

@waifu @Nudhul >you wanna convince normal people
NPC's unfortunately cannot be convinced to do anything good in their best interest.
>have more free software
The world currently has more than enough free software and more is still being added.
>by understanding what are their digital needs and providing solutions.
The solutions that solve all digital needs are there - but it'll be impossible to solve all digital wants with free software if the user wants to be chained. -
