     That's probably true. I think if the use of different servers could be explained better, the rest of the explanations wouldn't be needed as much. That seems to be the hardest thing to understand.

     I do like that explanation best as well.
     
     People get stuck thinking they only have a local Timeline and end up creating 3 or 4 different accounts.

     @Big_Diggity @zudn the explanation that I like best is that it’s like email. You might have a gmail address and someone else has a yahoo address and we can all communicate. Choose whichever one makes you happy

     @Big_Diggity @zudn I'm not sure one way or the other, but the last week on here has been fascinating to watch.

     I'm usually one of those guys that has a prediction about how everything is gonna go (whether I'm right or not, haha). But, I've got no idea on how this is all going to shake out.

     I chose an explanation with less detail on the about section of my server:

     1689 Social is part of a federated network of social media websites. Members can follow people here and people on other instances of Mastodon. Furthermore, members can see a chronological timeline of posts from:

     People they follow (Home);
     Everyone on 1689 Social (Local);
     Everyone on 1689 Social and every other instance with which our members have previous connections (Federated).
