     @mhoye Modern terminal emulators are SOOOOOO inefficient. I went all in on doing this right in uuterm and it's like 1000x faster, even over remote X, but sadly modern 3D GPU based X servers heavily penalize it back down for doing things right... 🤬

     @mhoye I never finished making it mature so it's super minimal in functionality. But it renders everything from bitmap font with DSL for composing glyphs (e.g. no precomposed accented chars or Hangul) and transmits as 1bpp, expands color serverside, and does scrolling regions serverside via permuting row buffers and reblitting to screen rather than rerendering. Within rows, changes are incremental too.

     @dalias My god, I love/hate learning this sort of thing. "Somebody solved this problem a decade or more ago and nobody knows" is both magical, and the worst.
