It landed on me as a critique of Joe Biden in particular. It sounds to me like the three of us are already fighting (and agreeing about) a larger battle.

We're not agreeing on anything.🤷🏿♂️
I posted. You came in sideways, talking about "flying f***" this and "patently ridiculous troll" that.
Funny, people rarely swear at me in real life even when they disagree with me? Something about the internet makes people feel comfortable being extra disrespectful when talking to Black men about life and death issues.
I am not being a patently ridiculous troll. Biden is number 2 behind Reagan. I said what I said.
Agreed. That's my whole point.
Even if you include Republicans, if you try to find politicians directly responsible for more person-years of incarceration than Biden, only two politicians come close: Nixon and Reagan.
Reagan is the GOAT baby! 🏆🐐The undisputed champ of hurting Black people! He's number 1.
Biden edges Nixon, because even though Nixon passed some of the worst laws, he didn't drive law enforcement and the FBI to use them for maximum harm like Biden did.
@CartyBoston @mekkaokereke @bumblebeedc agreed! I have long said I have more beefs with Biden than most Biden detractors can even name.
And I campaigned hard for him after he got the nomination in 2020 and would have this year too if he had accepted it.
This is in all honesty, my biggest beef with him.
His record (particularly as Senator) with policing and prisons is among the worst in modern history. All parties included.
For example the RICO Act was passed in the '70s under Nixon, to go after the mob. Nixon also signed the Omnibus Crime Control Act. These were powerful, but Nixon didn't really know how to use them to their full extent. It's like they knew how to make fiber optic cable in the '70s, but only used it to make lamps!🙂
Reagan and Biden supercharged these Acts for the war on drugs, with increased sentencing, asset forfeiture, and more incarceration capacity. Like data center fiber.😮
LBJ was mean in some ways, but he lacked the vision that Nixon, Reagan, and Biden, possessed. He didn't think big enough!
If we look at the incarceration rate when LBJ was president, and compare it to what happened later, LBJ's performance was truly unimpressive. The incarceration rate actually went down under Johnson! He's practically woke!
What happened after Johnson was an acceleration the likes of which the world has never seen.
@mekkaokereke and Biden was trying to out tough on crime Reagan and Nixon. AND Gingrich in the 90s.
And let's not give LBJ a pass. He's the one the diverted money for the War on Poverty into the War on Crime, giving block grants to police to start sports leagues so they could identify pre delinquents.
Aka children they thought were going to be criminals. Children.
You probably know but for those who don't.
