Android is the most popular OS, and yes, it is Linux. It doesn't matter if "the Linux users" think it is. Because this definition of "Linux users," pre-excludes the Android users. Which is silly. Android users *are* Linux users, so their definition of if Android counts as Linux is equally as valid as the desktop Linux users who fight with their printers.
Sort of like how most gamers in the world are women and they game on Android.
@teadrinker@clive android uses the linux kernel but I am not sure if the linux users would call it "using linux"
in the strictest sense all of us are using linux everyday since it's the most common and ubiquitous operating system it's in almost all of the things we use incl. televisions, everything "smart", every website is provided via linux, public service machinery, … I'm confident my lightbulbs are running linux ngl
But people associate computers with having excel open at an tower pc lol
I just wonder because in my dealings with various people, I'm always amazed that so few people know what Linux is (let alone use it). We did have it set up on one of our PCs just for kicks, but it's not something we use for daily operations
Most gamers in the world are women. Most gaming happens on Android devices. Linux.
It doesn't matter if "Gamers don't consider mobile gaming to be real gaming." Because that definition of "gamer" pre-excludes people who play games on Android. Which is silly.
If you ask everyone in the world, "Do you ever play games on a computing device? If so, what devices do you play games on?" The most common answers are "Yes. On my phone." That phone usually runs Android.
@saxnot@chaos.social @mekkaokereke@teadrinker@clive I need to install special drivers and software to use any of the printers available to me, pretty much all of them require hplip and using either the proprietary HP printing app or arcane nonsense in the CUPS web UI to get working
