@lina @RustyCrab I don't think Windows was ever "liked". People have been crapping on it since the 90s, and have tolerated it just because it actually worked for normies. Microsoft is not a "sexy" company, so no one made any excuses for it and always lambasted its monopolistic practices and the problems in its products.
Google, on the other hand, from its inception until the 2010s, was absolutely loved by everyone. A search engine that actually worked, the "do no evil" motto, the insanely cool for the time tools and sites that were absolutely free like YouTube, Drive, etc. Heck, they even had a pretty successful social media, one of the first that existed, Orkut, which was widely used before Facebook took over that market.
Then, one day they flipped the switch and leveraged all the trust people had put into it to collect the data of everyone and basically become a monopoly in the "serving ads" space. And no one had seen it coming because everyone was absolutely enamored with the company.
It's pretty crazy how the public's perception of a company works.
