"Why go into Space, everything is trying to kill you?!"
Earth ain't that hospitable either, and this before you even get to the people who live there....a mixed bunch at best.

@Lazarou recently, I took an overnight train from Oakland to Portland.
When I woke up at 7am, we were *still* in California
Living all my life in the UK I've never experienced a true, vast wilderness. The closest I've ever come to is is the Sea, which when I first saw it as a child was a little freaky.
So when I learn that nothing in particular went wrong for this young man, it was just the Wilderness was so vast that he truly was on his own, it's an alien concept to me. But fascinating though, as alien things are to me.
It really puts the Human world into perspective too, which is necessary.
@skinnylatte wow.
In the UK you'd either be at the end of Scotland or in Europe by now, some countries are just absurdly large....
@Lazarou this is just one state! Texas is even larger
@Lazarou not bad :)
@skinnylatte from Berlin to Belgrade, that's quite the journey. At least in a train you get to appreciate the land outside the window more.
