"How old are you"
"Old enough to have been *extremely judged* by all my friends by the strange idea that listening to video game music while working was a good way to stay productive"

"Old enough where when I booted up my family's first computer, I slid a literal save icon into my computer"
@cwebber That reminds me of the Doom CD that was partially a data CD with the game on it and mostly (by physical space) a music CD with Nine Inch Nails tracks on it that the game would play tracks from. But you could also just pop it into a normal audio CD player.
@haselbach you're thinking of the Quake CD and yes, I listen to that music still to this day and one of my favorite podcast episodes is a deconstruction of its influence on contemporary culture https://www.nightclerkradio.com/episodes/the-quake-soundtrack
Also: "This is a Playstation black disk."
"... but you probably won't listen to my anyway, will you."
@cwebber @haselbach one funny thing: growing up in Argentina I always played pirated Quake only, and it was the floppy version (!) with no music whatsover. So even though I like NIN and I'm aware of the fact that the soundtrack is by them, I think I've never actually listened to it!
Maybe today is the day?
@lanodan I listened to a lot of c64 stuff, which is probably the oldest stuff for me: the intro to Boulderdash, Commando's soundtrack, Monty on the Run, lots of demo/intro SID tracks, etc :)
