     I just realized that it's too easy to lose your domain name which loses your identity permanently, or could be taken over by someone getting your domain name.

     @eal only two servers really handle portable identities right now and I'm implementing mine in a different way so nothing will be compatible with mine except itself and maybe one other implementation I'm going to be coordinating with.

     @bonifartius you don't need a domain at all for your identity. for your server/storage you still need to put it somewhere but you can mirror it and switch the location at any time without breaking anything.

     @lanodan @sun If memory serves me correct there's some sort of initiative with the Mitra developer Silverpill to try and create the functionality for immutable, mobile identities within the Fediverse (somehow?)...

     @lanodan I forgot Hubzilla is still a thing. I've not followed any of their development nor have heard anything about/of them in a very long time. Is it a well-utilized Fediverse implementation? @sun

     @sun that's nice, didn't know that as i gave up reading AP specs pretty fast 🥴

     guess it should be be possible to have the same identity be reachable by different means? like tor or i2p and classic domain.
