@dansup generally speaking, I feel like platform operators should get paid, content creators should get paid, software developers should get paid. Everyone should get paid if they're putting in work.
"Ownership" alone should not entitle you to get paid.

@dansup if I understand correctly, the goal is to incentivize higher effort content? It might be worth some added nonmonetary incentives first / in addition to monetary? idk something like badges or achievements, or even just more fleshed out aggregate stats on the performance on your own videos? Stats on which videos are being watched in full / where they are being scrolled past.

@dansup I obviously don't know enough about the implementation and current plans to know when one suggestion would be simple and one would be monstrous to implement lol, but in terms of ideals, I like the idea of this being configurable to the local instance. Some communities might want to prioritize long form video essays, while others might want to prioritize frequent short shitposts. Streaks (interpreting as like daily streaks) seems tricky to me to add as a global boost.

@dansup think it's a great idea imho. It'll draw talent. It's why YT is so successful and a great way to bridge the gap.

@dansup I think we should do all we can to keep crypto currency (a synonym for grift) out of the fediverse.
