   Just lost 99% of my contacts on my cellphone.

   That is 30 years of contacts gone.

   So I deleted whatsap when meta started to censor everyone and everything.

   Then when I was abroad I reinstalled whatsap again, due to some friends Using it. 2 months later it malfunctioned so I deactivated the app.

   I noticed that I kept getting error messages, so today I just removed the app from the phone.

   Since it had gotten access to my contacts, it erased all my contacts.
   
   Don't trust meta. meta is Asshoe!

     @EvolLove @MummaBear An app can erase address book? Must be some flaw in the OS? Or is whatsapp a trojan horse? I've never used whatsapp, but I recently started using Signal again. So far, so good. Hope I havent jinxed myself now...😅

     I dont have google anything.

     I would rather lose all my contacts than use a google account :pepe_happy:

     Both Apple and Android keep your contact list

     Yes I allowed it to get access to my phones contacts when I installed the app.

     And since It started malfunctioning I deactivated the app. And I realized that I still got error messages for whatsap on the phone so I deleted the app.

     And since it had permission to use my phones contacts it apparently removed them as well.

     Never had an issue with signal.

     I think it is due to, allow this app to bla bla bla contacts. Using the app U can edit, create and delete contacts, just like U can do with the phone app, even the contacts app is an app.

     So it is not that strange that U can erase contacts with all apps that have permission to do so.

     The fck up was when whatsap took all my contacts down with it to its grave.

     Sure U want to delete this app?

     Skype did the opposite. Created copies of copies

     @EvolLove @MummaBear Still, permission to read is not same as permission to write. The former might be sensible, the latter not (except for the address book app itself)
