these are the sorts of people for who joining MENSA is an aspirational goal.

@KarlDahl @sickburnbro Not me. I knew what the HS counselor was up to when they started the test and made sure I scored as a functional moron. I wanted no part of the "gifted program" and those dorks (even though some of them were my friends). The teachers who recommended me were pissed (that they did not get rid of me from their classes). My parents thought it was funny.

@LatigoMorgan @KarlDahl as Karl mentioned, if you the gifted program is bad, MENSA is another level

@sickburnbro I was invited to join MENSA and went to a local event when I was 17 to check it out. Biggest bunch of dorks and losers imaginable

@LatigoMorgan @KarlDahl there are some people that have the same energy, but the G&T classes have a microcosm of the normal school crowd; brown-noses, smart sports guys, overachieving slackers but most importantly, the dreaded model UN sorts.

@Spingebill @Paleface @quercus seems to be going well, but I don't know if the test conditions are simple enough for repeatability.

Now, now, let's not dismiss the base concept so quickly. What if we modified the test to catch either geniuses *or* retards, as long as they're racist? (midwits not allowed)

@sickburnbro Researchers who want to study high IQ people always discover that MENSA is a uniquely terrible sample population, because it’s full of useless people who happen to have high IQs and joined it because they have something to prove

@Spingebill @sickburnbro
The idea of a club for "high IQ people" is in itself laughable.
People who believe that this could be a good idea immediately out themselves as spiritual midwits.
