@exchgr @jalefkowit a16z has NOTHING of value to contribute to the world. Seriously, that's an immensely destructive VC firm and its mere existence is a strong argument for the corporate death penalty.

@cstross @exchgr @jalefkowit I cosplayed it today at DCC and had a blast as always at con, but why are their first two examples VIDEO GAMES??

so first they call it a form of manga and then they mention two games. I didn't read further and I DON'T want to know, but these morons I never heard of have NO clue what they're talking about if they make errors like THAT right?

(Bonus: Genshin is Chinese, and their anime like link click or tgcf are called Donghua but I digress)

I hate it, it hurts 😭😂

@UkeBLCatboy @exchgr @jalefkowit a14z is the biggest venture capital investment fund in California. Silicon Valley techbros, basically. Their ignorance of fandom does not come as any kind of surprise: the only thing they're actually fans of is money.

@cstross @exchgr @jalefkowit I stopped reading after the first paragraph, these must be clowns. Like I'm a massive weeb, have been for 16 years, I go to 20 cons in 5-6 countries a year and cosplay and write gay fanfics massive, fandom is my entire life and all my friends and my home on- and offline, so this just hurts. I get a headache from that first paragraph and couldn't continue.

"Started as a niche ... of manga..." WHAT? Anime started as a form of manga? WHAT?

      And I love Genshin, I

@landley @vwampage @exchgr @jalefkowit Yes, and a fine is just putting a price tag on breaking the law. I'd favour a corporate death penalty that mandates prison sentences (with a minimum term) for the directors of a company receiving it—including all the past directors back to the time the offense was committed unless they turned whistle-blower before the prosecution.

@vwampage @exchgr @cstross @jalefkowit Eh, blaming a company and not the people running it is like blaming clothes instead of people.

@exchgr @cstross @jalefkowit The corporate death penalty is really just treating companies like the hoarder money piñatas they are
