   @a @sun trouble is Facebook in practice is used by people to connect with others they already know, for want to know. Which is why it so easily overtook Craigslist with Facebook marketplace and many local communities choose Facebook to organize events.
   
   Twitter in practice is more about branding and speaking broadly to everybody, mostly strangers. So even with less users, Twitter is seen as the town square of the world over facebook

     @dielan @a I think appeal to observed reality is important too, in the past Twitter was just extremely influential politically and socially. It just was.

     @sun @a I've been hoping for twitters downfall for a long time. I think scattering such that there isn't a single platform for this kind of thing is the best outcome. So I welcome all those people moving to bluesky. I even have an account there to watch. It's a real shithole though. Watching them try to justify themselves is really funny
