   Wife update, she’s doing well. Left foot is trashed and will never be weight bearing but right is healing well. Her goal is knee scooter in a few months. I’ll have to clean the other rooms by then I suppose 😒

     With her it’s the nerve damage and bone damage in the good foot. Trying to regain use of that and use of a prosthetic would be dangerous and probably cause more damage

     In the case of my relative, it's caused by inflammation, temperature, changes, etc. on the nerve endings that are left. That inputs pain signals from where the nerve used to run (ie lower leg). Nerve cutting/deadening *might* help, but it might also distort his already fucky sense of balance so he's never done it.
