If you're going to complain at least be honest. Bluesky does have a trust & safety team and deals with those kinds of accounts.
That account got basically no followers, was blocked by a ton of users quickly and then was banned just as quickly.

@emory @stoicybele i'm not going to argue back on any of this. it sucks., assholes are trying to invade, but the site has set up tools that deal with them. (1) trust & safety team is taking that shit seriously and reports are acted upon quickly. (2) there are numerous subscribable blocklists that have been adding these accounts as quickly as they show up, so people subbed to them are auto-protected against them.

@stoicybele @mmasnick look i have been publishing on the web since ncsa mosaic, i expect trolls and assholes. i wasn't surprised a nazi transphobe immediately popped up the moment i said something kind about trans people, it was the fact that it's interspersed between posts from people celebrating freedom from nazi phobes and trolls on twitter while nazi phobes wave. i was following five people maybe so the new user experience at bluesky could be very similar to that and that would suck.

@mmasnick @stoicybele because i didn't know. i blocked them immediately but took a screenshot, if you do a search for a certain keyword in the tenant fqdn of that asshole there are probably several more just like him. i don't have time to spend curating scumbags on social media.

I truly despise choosing things solely by technical sweetness, when obvious mechanisms like enshittification are so likely.
But I do get that mastodon has serious problems, hopefully fixed "soon".
It took me six months to really make mastodon work for me, and I was lucky enough to get on a great instance. It's rough here that way.
But "convenience" is such a consumer trap... It's the precise way in which so many things are made ruinous.
Sometimes good things require effort. I personally refuse to be part of corporate media. There are none trustworthy in 2024, and certainly there will be zero in 2025 on.
