@prettygood b-but youre a cultist for not subscribing to the mainstream acceptance of total corporate control over eveyrthing!!! stop promoting free software so much its bad!!! youre an annoying fosstard!!!
@prettygood >cringe and proprietary "open source".
More like; If free software is so great, then how come this program developed for freedom by hobbyists that is functionally better than the one developed by some proprietary companies isn't exactly the same as the proprietary program?
Free software isn't all hobbyists anyway - most substantial free software has been partially developed by programmers hired by businesses, as any sane business doesn't hand over control of their business to another one - they go and find free software that does what they need, or if not, they pay a programmer to make the changes required.
> developed for millions of dollars by an all-star team of designers and engineers
To be honest, 99% of that money probably goes to the managerial class, and the designers and engineers are burnt out and cynical because they can never do what they really want to do.
Which is why corposlop software is often not even any better, or only barely so. If people who are passionate about design and software were also paid really really well... *insert "society if xyz" meme*
