     @waifu@mai.waifuism.life You can install windows in a VM. If you dual boot it will steal the bootloader sometimes and when it gets some malware it will be able to encrypt the linux disks.

     @reimu@mk.fumo.pictures I'm basically only using it for work so malware shouldn't be a problem, the vm idea i hadn't had recently so i may give it a try, thank you

     @sun@shitposter.world @reimu@mk.fumo.pictures i bought it second hand, i don't have the bios password and virtualization is disabled. it's a newer thinkpad model so removing a battery wont do

     @waifu @reimu sometimes you can flash it yourself by soldering some wires and using a USB device but that gets into "not worth it" territory and with a good chance of destroying the board
