Hey @tek, I was considering bridging my account with bsky, but noticed @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy is not reachable from freeradical.zone, and I wondered if it was explicitly defederated / banned for some particular reason, or is it just an oversight (?).
@tanfonto@edd I hear that. The usual analogy is it’s like email: you can get an account whenever but then still email someone on another server. Use Outlook at work and still want to mail your friend who uses iCloud? No problem!
@tek@tanfonto As an aside, I still think a centralized service is a rather silly method to do bridging compared to a bridge on a given instance. But one definitely exists and the other maybe doesn't so 🤷
> If your fediverse username has _ (underscore) or ~ (tilde) characters, they're converted to - (dash) characters. For example, @a_b~c@my.social is bridged into Bluesky as @a-b-c.my.social.ap.brid.gy.
They’re bound and determined to make this as janky as possible. 🤦♂️
@tek@tanfonto Searching for @mobi@mastodon.com.pl (the admin) is tossing a 503 with message "Remote data could not be fetched". Might be something with how the two instances are set up?
@edd@tek we spent some time investigating, and tl;dr; there has to be something filtering the traffic on the network level (provider, vps, blacklists, a pigeon sitting on a cable etc), folks from mastodon.com.pl can't follow anyone here despite no explicit block on the fedi level
@edd@tanfonto It looks like some software bug. If I search for "mastodon.com.pl" then I see a list of users, with m0bi at the top. I can click to view his profile.
