Again, people you turn on, to court fascist votes, are not LIKELY to want to support your politically.

You lost 10M fucking votes. TEN MILLION.

So maybe all those people are all secret fascists even tho giant swathes of them are literally going to be harmed by fascism.

Or JUST MAYBE, it's because they could tell they were fucked either way and didn't see the value in supporting bougie ass "liberals" prepared to throw them to the wolves for a miniscule handful of cracker suburban votes

    Idiots

Like it or not, your base? Are queer ppl, they're Black ppl, they're Brown people, they're Muslims, they're young people.

Your candidate ran on "we will continue arming Israel while they do a genocide, we're going to fund violent racist murderpigs, we're going to pass fascist immigration laws even better than the fascists do, student protestors are antisemitic terrorists and we'd rather not talk about trans and queer people during a fascist pogrom against them."

That's how you lose 10M votes

I am not 10M people. I warned you that I cannot be millions of votes for you. I told anyone that would listen running the right of George W. Bush was going to result in losing MILLIONS of voters. They didn't vote for Trump, they just stayed home; like I TOLD YOU they fucking would.

It literally does not MATTER if YOU agree with the calculus or not. YOU are ALSO not "millions of voters."

The job, is to get elected. You do what you have to win the election.

Your leaders decided funding and enabling a genocide, hugging it out with cops, passing fascist immigration laws, and hanging out with the Cheney clan, were MORE IMPORTANT than getting elected.

Don't get pissed off at people who realized that and said "naw." This was WHOLLY fucking predictable.

      end the forever wars
      curtail police violence
      dismantle the migrant carceral system
      punish fascists

      So... no.

@AnarchoNinaWrites From what I’ve seen it may not have actually mattered what the Dems ran on because a lot of the people who voted for Trump or sat out the election had no idea what was going on, didn’t even know what Dems were running on, and/or had a very distorted idea of what they were running on.

Could Dems have done more to overcome that? Probably! But the information vacuum was a big problem.

@MisuseCase Go make excuses for people who ran a campaign for fascists and lost to fascists elsewhere.

We have 3 elections worth of data about how to run against this guy; two times they ran as Republicans and lost, one time Biden lied his ass off, promised progress and got 81 million votes.

@Wildheart_Baby I think Gaza was probably the biggest factor, but not the only one. At the SAME time they were shouting "we love genocide" they were also demonizing student protestors, saying we love (violent racist) cops and want to give them more money, and promising to do fascist carceral immigration policies even "better" than the fascists do.

They literally ATTACKED the exact same coalition that got them over in 2020.

@AnarchoNinaWrites for over a year since they decided to keep funding a genocide, I had the same thought. All of those were deliberate choices that they knew were unpopular. This is exactly the direction they wanted and decided on that instead of representing their constituents, providing a vision that good leadership requires, or spending any political capital or goodwill to improve obvious problem areas.

The reelection of Donald Fucking Trump is Biden's legacy because his actions are indistinguishable from the actions of someone intentionally trying to get him reelected in that position.

@RoguePlayer @AnarchoNinaWrites Refusing to do the obviously right thing because you are afraid it might cause you to lose your job feels like a pretty good reason to remove you from a leadership position in and of itself. I don't think I'm alone in that position, as the results showed.

I think the Biden administration made a political calculation was impossible to determine. They may have thought that they would lose the Jewish vote if they pulled support from Israel.
I don't know if there are more Jewish people than Arabs in the US. Either way, the political calculus was a loser.

Mind you, I think the conflict in both Gaza and Ukraine were started to cause this very issue in the US election.

@Nanard_Groubiche It's not that simple. Joe Biden's numbers were much worse than where Harris finished. The Dems bled voters across all demos, not just white dudes, and Trump didn't gain any votes.

To put it politely, the Dem base, as a WHOLE, did not want to vote for a Republican - and that's what Harris ran as.

These 10 millions are mostly WASP and/or men.

They're not secret fascists, they're just common bourgeoisie. They refused to vote for a black women (Obama was a man and harmless and they already refused to vote for Clinton) and as usual, they opted for "fascism still better than socialism".

Yes, there's no socialists in this election, but the progressive wing of Dem party is growing fast, so the next election, who know? Better to shoot down AOC before she began to be a problem.

We are too focused on economy and forgot that capitalism has 3 heads: market, state and religion/mass culture/whatever it's called these days.

SA state rules are rigged and don't allow radical politics, the new economy throw his muscles in the far-right and the new religion (mash-up of mass media, toxic masculinity, white nationalism and fanaticism) hit hard.

Also, technology as mean of disinformation.
Trump backstabbed the democracy with medieval ideology and modern technology. There's a lesson for us here.

90% of what you're saying, was still true in 2020 when Joe Biden won by 6M+ votes. Biden, who is NOT a Black woman, running on the same platform Harris did in 2024, was on pace to lose 400 EC votes and would have underpeformed Harris.

It was the platform. They ran as fascism lite to court white Republicans and burned; same as 2016 w/ Clinton

I don't want to argue anymore, i just converted percentages in voters (for comparison):
      around 23% under 18, so i consider 77% of 330 millions, with 60% participation (152 millions voters)
      - 49% male, so 31 millions for Harris and 41 millions for Trump (2,5 millions voted "other")
      - 51% female, so 41M Harris/35M Trump (1,5M "other")

      White (60%): 37M Harris/52M Trump
      Black (12%): 15,5M Harris/2,5M Trump
      Hispanic/Latino (19%): 15M Harris/12,5M Trump
      Asian (6%): 5M Harris/3,5M Trump
      Other (3%): 2M Harris/2,5M Trump

It's approximation, i think i underestimate the total voter number and miss the fact whites are older (add voters to Trump).
