    I’m surprised that while my Bluesky account has grown by 8000 followers — DOUBLED to 16k+ — in just the last week since the election, my Mastodon count hasn’t changed at all.

    Is Mastodon not seen as an alternative to Twitter?

    Or is my account hard to find for those not following me?

    Honestly curious.

      @BrentToderian the starter packs on Bluesky really make all the difference.

      I like it here a lot, but I find it tough to find new people to follow without searching out specific topics or names.

      Plus fewer people are starting Mastodon accounts. There isn’t enough info for folks to know which server to join. Or even what servers are or how to find them.

      @BrentToderian I think there is still a decent discoverability problem on Mastodon when you compare it to the start packs Bluesky is doing…that and the fact that I personally believe they’re riding hype train and seeing a lot more growth than here

      @BrentToderian A bunch of architects and planners whose views I'm interested in recently jumped from Twitter to Bluesky. I don't understand all of the dynamics but I see what you see

      @cinn48 @BrentToderian
      Full ack - just found a few people on Bluesky yesterday organically from my timeline, then stumpled over someone sharing a starter pack and from there found a lot of interesting accounts.
      Question: Wasn't there a similar concept in mastodon/fediverse? I thought I saw follow recommendation lists being shared a long while ago in one of the exoduses bringing people here..

      @cinn48 @BrentToderian yep, I held off for a long time, but finally went to check it out and the starter packs made me go "ooh neat".
      It does feel a lot more polished.
