   I’ve been up on the roof installing the mount for a new Meshtastic antenna.

   I don’t actually need an encrypted mesh messaging system that doesn’t require Internet access, but it’s reassuring to have one available anyway.

     @tek Just ordered my first Meshtastic radio today. I don’t need that either…currently.

     Seems like a delightfully nerdy way to prep a bit for things to come.

     Any pointers for newbies? I’m technical and rabidly left.

     @arubis Very nice. Same logic for me: I got a WisBlock pre-assembled kit. I want to have a known working device to start and then can experiment connecting to it later.

     @tek Starting with a T-Echo SoftRF. Figured I’d go all-in-one for the first unit; if it turns out to be a Thing, I’m happy to pick up smaller cheaper stuff and assemble it.

     And… done. My RAK4631 radio lit up with distant nodes after getting the new 33” antenna into place.
