I'm beginning to wonder if the left broadly suffers from an inability to empathize. They literally can't imagine anyone earnestly holding a contradictory opinion or preference. Whenever it comes time to apply theory of mind to people who disagree with them, the answer always comes back: "I know I'm right, so they must know I'm right, too. Therefore they must just be lying about their positions for some selfish and evil motivation."

If say, skinheads, who are persecuted by the police and legally forbidden from expressing their ideology publicly (silenced) were attacked by the state or someone other group with more power, would that mean they would not be fascists? -
