   @PNS I hate to say it, but many of our decisions as parents these days (myself included) create weak children by not making them cover more responsibility. The world is a tough place even when times are good, surviving in bad times is a psychological exercise as much as anything. Tough love sometimes is needed to learn hard lessons you wouldn't otherwise get. But in that scenario, at least a person who ultimately does care is involved.

     I'm not sure if you've seen it, but I come across so many young kids (five to seven) who are borderline sociopaths.

     I know kids can be unaware of the needs of adults, but I mean kids who maliciously and physically harm other kids and get some sort of pleasure out of it.

     I feel like parents don't set bright lines. They go to work, come home, see a problem, but ignore it until that can leave again. Five years later, you have a young Richard Ramirez.

     Part of the problem is the parent who make great efforts to present their toddlers and children as miniature adults. They teach their kids how to be little sophists for its own demonstration sake.

     We home school, we draw bright lines, and never allow the kids to end run by going to the other parent — we always support each other's decisions. So my kids are fairly well behaved. Thus, it's really apparent and surprising when other kids aren't. Not surprising in that I don't expect it, but surprising in that it's easily avoidable yet people to take the simple steps required.

     if they're that young and already terrorists theyve learned it from mommy and daddy or whoever theyre living with most. kids are already in a constant state of development. all it takes is that reinforcement from outside and you've got yourself a tiny little monster 🤩

     i never acted that way because i was literally beaten. when i was young and dad was around, especially, you were on your p's and q's. when he wasn't and mama had to discipline, there were 'switches' and getting knocked by the famous wooden spoons and such.

     It was the belt, sure. But we were very well behaved. You could take us anywhere.
