It's funny because I do speech exercises to make sure I don't do things like that. I'm constantly working on how I speak and write because I want to communicate the least amount possible with the most amount said. Information density in speech is incredibly important for me because I don't like people. Ever.

>"The house over next to where the sears used to be which is now a harbor freight that johnny works at a couple blocks away from the Walmart"
The one thing worse than people being overly vague is that they're overly specific with details that don't ultimately matter. Sounds spent that give no actual relevant information. It is the worst thing.

I love my grandma but invasive thoughts creep when she describes things when I'm in an actual hurry.

About the verbiage of the excerpt itself, I'm not sure how the usage of jargon "compensates" for a lack of status. It's definitely indicative of low status which is why I try to avoid it outside of facetious contexts but it doesn't compensate for anything in my eyes.
I associate people who use slang with lesser education.

Using excessive language to describe things, such as "The house over next to where the sears used to be which is now a harbor freight that johnny works at a couple blocks away from the Walmart" Instead of "Its across the street from Harbor Freight". My grandmother and step dad do this shit constantly and it pisses me right off.
