That's misunderstanding the reasons of how tribalism formed
>we just never caught up with our recent progress
true
>violence is a social construct
It's very real and not a social construct, it stems from conscious and unconscious mind forged from recent and hundreds and hundreds of years of evolution. It's as much biological and it is mental. But it's not an abstract construct that doesn't exist in animals.
>expand beyond our little planet
Lack of micro biology knowledge spotted.
>become pacifist creature
"You cannot be peaceful unless you're capable of great violence."
Being able to oppose something negative is a need for survival. That's why violence exist.
Any species need violence for self preservation. But it depends on the context. Most of human conflicts are passive violent conflicts which can be mitigated thought nvc.
>There will be no conflict or violence
That's impossible, but it's also a positive goal but staying it the truth is important to also about violence.
You can't end it, just mitigated it and hope it gets better over time.

@asa There will be less violence yes, but that doesn't mean there won't be any among the high IQ.

@mangeurdenuage You remove all people with an IQ under 110 from the society and you can go months without a single violent incident

@mangeurdenuage @asa You can have duels and similar kinds of violence without collateral damage.

Indirect "collateral damage" is often imperceptible but still there.

@mangeurdenuage @asa yes but at least it'll be duels involving high technical skill instead of burning and looting

>why would two intelligent people use violence against each other.

@nerthos @mangeurdenuage why would two intelligent people use violence against each other.
Intelligent people talk and accept losing, and adapt to end up winning in some other way, most often both parties win.

@asa @mangeurdenuage @nerthos two opposing generals. ancient greek philosophers. modern academics. recreational fighters.
you're arguing that emotion and intelligence are opposing forces but that's the most midwit take of them all.

@asa @mangeurdenuage That is a mindset that is completely detached from human psychology. Intelligent people don't believe they can rewrite human nature, they instead work around and within it.
A person who has a high IQ but believes they can impose their fringe beliefs upon human nature is not intelligent, they're basically a forever-in-university academic.
People aren't worker bees. They have wants and personal needs and reasonably put those above the personal wants and needs of others. Sometimes (often) it's possible to find common ground, but sometimes it simply isn't.

@nerthos @mangeurdenuage you are wrong
Intelligent people predict the future and accept defeat to avoid unnecessary damage, conflict and violence are different things.

@asa @mangeurdenuage Because there are conflicts that cannot be resolved in ways that are acceptable to both parties. Violence is fast, final, cheap, and emotionally refreshing. It has an amazing ability to make people be fine with a result.
The idea that violence and intelligence are not compatible is silly. More intelligent people simply use less destructive violence.

@nerthos @mangeurdenuage We have to plenty of land and resources and things to work on to further civilization, no intelligent person would ever use violence when we can just make a deal and be happy. It’s not a zero sum game

Historically Fat anime jesus was able to indoctrinate very high iq people into believe making sarin gas and starting ww3, fortunately it didn't go as planned, apparently you need more than 3 high iq people to do so.

@hakui @asa @nerthos @sampo Overall the act of violence seems to be tied to self reflection (which is often tied to iq), achieved needs (not necessarily attached to iq, attached to context, but separated from feelings, but attached to self reflection), and understanding of your feelings (which is tied to self reflection and context).
Which is why you can have a population enjoying the circus while it's burning.
