Robert Link (phaedral@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 06-Nov-2024 02:17:39 JST Robert Link @susankayequinn @KamalaHarrisWin Vice President Harris is not a little girl in need of governmental protection to get to her school safely. She is a competent, successful, powerful member of her era and society. I get the historical nod here, but it also feels like it infantilizes Ms. Harris, however unintentionally.

Robert Link (phaedral@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 06-Nov-2024 06:35:26 JST Robert Link @susankayequinn Could be. I'm certain it's not intentional. But it's bugged me every time I've seen it.
Too, it reminds me too darned much of the "Episode One" poster.

It's literally got nothing in common except the visual use of a shadow, which TONS of other artists have used as a literary technique.
It's also weird to say a callback to Ruby Bridges is "infantalizing" given the insane courage of that little girl.
