翠星石 (suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com)'s status on Tuesday, 05-Nov-2024 22:46:37 JST 翠星石 @lightweight There is no "CO₂ budget" - unless an individual does something like insane amounts of arson, the amount of CO₂ an individual can release is negligible - this include fireworks.
The real driver of CO₂ emissions is businesses - they are the ones who actually emit the huge amounts of CO₂ with their needlessly wasteful activities, just because they can, or because they think that doing so will be profitable.-

Dave Lane :flag_tino: 🇳🇿 (lightweight@mastodon.nzoss.nz)'s status on Tuesday, 05-Nov-2024 22:46:39 JST Dave Lane :flag_tino: 🇳🇿 Personal fireworks are a lot like Jetskis. Yeah, they're moderately fun for those using them - with fun seeming to be inversely proportional to intellect... but annoying to pretty much everyone else and without any practical utility. They're just a pointless and fairly dangerous (for the user and innocent bystanders as well) waste of our precious remaining carbon budget.
There. I've said it.
