   Are there any human beings out there? :( I wish more actual human beings would post stuff here. Mastodon is such a potentially great tool, but only if people would utilize it.

     @mr_penguin i have no idea on which side of the blocklists freetalklive is, but there are plenty of real people in the part where free speech is an ideal :)

     @mr_penguin@social.freetalklive.com Damn, your server is ridiculously slow, and they don't seem to publish which instances they are blocking, which is quite a big red flag.
     
     If you want to meet "human beings" on Fedi, I'd recommend using something else than Mastodon, preferably self-hosted, and not defederate from entire servers over differing opinions with singular users. If you take those steps, you'll get a lot more human interaction, but you will have to accept hearing opinions you might disagree with.

     @mr_penguin fediverse requires work. i'm on this account for some years now and it took at least half of that to get my feed to where it is.

     @bonifartius Yea, humorously there are a lot of freedom people on Mastodon, but my message was more geared at those on our instance. Humorously another post I made got a ton of boosts. Presumably from people on a variety of other instances.

     social.freetalklive.com doesn't block any instances.

     I'm guessing you are hostile to freedom of speech and communications if you think not publishing a blocking list is a 'red flag'.

     Mastodon is 'self hosted' at a certain level, if you choose to host it. We have. I'm one of the people helping.

     I'm not sure I care much what others think who advocate against freedom. However I will fight to enable those who want freedom to be able to speak regardless of which side of the isle they are on.
