     @ivesen @picofarad Plus statically linked version of the package manager, which I think is pretty much exclusive to Alpine and Arch.

     @picofarad of course, if you're talking about fixing it from a livecd type system you could do that with any distro, I could also most likely fix this by having a statically linked busybox preinstalled to unfuck the sytem.

     @picofarad also, no you could not do what you described, that would require running software, which for the most part relies on having libc installed

     @ivesen i know you don't want to hear it, but if this were gentoo you could pull a generic libc from tinderbox and unzip it to / and then run the update again. Then again, i don't know that gentoo could fuck up an install this badly. maybe it could.

     I assume a reboot doesn't work... any luck on googling the error about the post-hook? maybe there's a patch or something and you can boot a rescue disk (gentoo has 1 ;-) and patch it and run dpkg --whatever the command is to make it re-do.

     @ivesen @picofarad Could also see it having failed to fully update glibc multiple .so files which AFAIK all need to be updated at once or otherwise it'll lead to crashes.
