I saw the segment. Problem is: JDV is schooled in all the rhetoric toolboxes which he brought to the table here (lies, denials, diversions, motte and bailey, DARVO, ...) - all the time remaining cool and calm whereas Jake Tapper became more agitated, and he did not bring the receipts aka video.
If you come into this either with no foreknowledge or biased toward the Trump camp, people may grant JDV some credibility.
We need more debate oomph when calling out JDV and co.
It's about convincing the slim remainder of possible undecided.
And, yes, this is not a civilised dialogue like you perform at the debate club. But it's about emotions. And there, I was pointing out, we can still do better as regards the part of the audience I mentioned.
