Why do people like beaches?
I just don't get what is there to like about them, walking there is a weird feeling, the water is dirty, it's smelly and there's way too many people there..

@k4t3 if you get the chance to relax on a beach chair with the umbrella, it's actually really nice. I didn't get it either until I tried that. Very relaxing.

@sun That just sounds like you like the experience of watching the beach but not actually being there, kinda?

@k4t3 crowded beaches are terrible, on the off chance you manage to go to one that's empty though it's really fun

1. if you're underdressed in a big herd of people, then nobody's peeping at you. On a private beach there is always peeper suspicion. The herd also grants you some protection against shark and jellyfish attacks, as other people can get attacked first and warn you. A herd is also associated somewhat with better hotels and resorts.
2. it smells like the sea
3. just watching the sea and listening to the wind is relaxing. Peak beach enjoyment is reading a book on a pier.
4. you bathe every day (right?) so getting some fish juice on you isn't that big of a deal. You can do some swimming (enjoyable), or surfing (enjoyable), or you can "teach" a female companion to swim (enjoyable).
