I'd like to use only #xmpp but my family and friends use meta services, work parners use slack and telegram, most of the open source comunities uses #matrix, and I need to use all of those services :blobcatgoogly2:

@codeDude Gateways can help. They basically expose these legacy networks under a (sub)domain of your choosing. The slidge project has a few if you’re okay with self-hosting. I don’t think that there’s any solution for Instagram’s messages tho; you just have to deal with their shit web interface.

@codeDude There is a service which gives you standard XMPP addresses for Matrix rooms and users: https://archon.im/arianet/matrix-homeserver/services/

It's sometimes very slow to respond though. I couldn't join a channel via @gajim last time because there is a 10s timeout for the server to respond (but it did respond eventually).

Some Matrix rooms are also connected to IRC. In this case it's best to join the IRC channel via Biboumi: https://joinjabber.org/tutorials/gateways/irc/

        IRC Gateway
IRC is a kind of chat protocol. It is focused towards group communication, yet allows one-to-one communication. Unlike Jabber, IRC users of one network/server can only communicate with channels and nicks of that network/server. In IRC realm, channels are group-chats (like MUC in Jabber) and nicks are user-identifiers (like JIDs in Jabber). To learn more about IRC, please visit IRC-Help. Here, you'll see how to connect to IRC from your Jabber account, via an IRC transport for Jabber, called Biboumi.
