   the far right knows news doesn’t need to be profitable, which is why they dump exorbitant amounts of funding into alt right media, LLMs, troll farms, etc without an expectation of ROI. they know* it’ll come back to them in the form of tax cuts, weak labor, reduced government spending etc

   * it’s false because it works in the short term but destabilizes everything and makes it more expensive in the long term

     @exchgr True, mostly I was just thinking about that "payoff in tax cuts/weak labor/etc" as a kind of extractive goal, which looks like a payoff unless you care about the long term stability of the system (aka cultivation)

     "easier" if you ignore the actual health of the system, etc
