Charles_in_Charge (charles_in_charge@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 14-Oct-2024 16:22:01 JST Charles_in_Charge @Shadowman311 Even if they get the hardware and software to the point it can do anything the average entry level service worker can do, there's still the problem of battery capacity. What good is Rosy the Robot if it runs out of juice every 90 minutes? Imagine all the problems with charging electric vehicles, then apply that to your robot waiter. Remember how hard it is for a fire department to put out an electric car when it decides to go up in flames? Now imagine the robot short order cook at Deny's catching fire. -

The well dressed white dude? Right on through no check necessary. Almost like racial profiling exists for statistically accurate reasons -

Charles_in_Charge (charles_in_charge@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 14-Oct-2024 16:22:00 JST Charles_in_Charge @Shadowman311 @WashedOutGundamPilot Little town I'm in is just big enough to have a Walmart, and the non-white population is almost non-existent. I kind of miss a couple of food places from back in California, but the move was very much worth it. I had almost forgotten what it was like to not feel like an ex-pat in my own home. Summertime for Zeon (washedoutgundampilot@poa.st)'s status on Monday, 14-Oct-2024 16:22:01 JST Summertime for Zeon @Charles_in_Charge @Shadowman311 When the cash register became a standard fixture in the marketplace, shop owners were astounded at how much embezzlement and loss had been taking place all along.
I'm expecting the same out of robots. No nigger drama, shouting, fighting, the 'bot can always be blamed without issue, no risks of theft, harassment lawsuits, chimpouts.
And since they won't buy them outright, just least them for, say, $2,500 a month for a 7-day 8-hour shift with a basic featureset, with pricing scaling with uptime and complexity, what do they have to gain, when the only human employees they can hire are so worthless?
(i was going to find one of the sheboon whining about how they fired her for pocketing $100 and bragging online but this will suffice)
