   @madrobin oh man, a dude ranch sounds awesome but probably out of my price range unless my parents want to chip in again.

   Stargazing sounds so cool! I don't know how to plan around clouds, if you just try, knowing that you might have to reschedule.

     @Bronwyn @madrobin i have a coworker that can help with that. he has something like 7 telescopes, including some with filters for looking at the sun. you can find him on Instagram at astrocastrosf.

     @madrobin @kingrat does he let random people use his telescopes? Or you mean to recommend where I go?

     @Bronwyn @madrobin both. he really enjoys setting up telescopes at public events (like Valencia St events) and helping people look at things. he also made a web site (no longer works) for figuring out light pollution and clouds and predicting when is the best time. and he knows the local observatories. I'm sure if you messaged him on Instagram, he'd have some advice for stargazing with kids. his insta is mostly telescope events he's done.
