As a disabled person I can't lie, I'm getting slightly ticked off about all the "stop using the car" messages that ignore people who wouldn't be able to travel at all without their car.

For example. When I go to London now for work, I drive. I used to get the train and travel across London via the underground or buses, but my disability has got worse and all the different changes and walking between them and flights of stairs and escalators now make this impossible.

And I do use public transport when I can. But not everyone can. It doesn't take much just to acknowledge that.

@CaptainJanegay I'd love if the anti car tooters (and Twitters and Facebookers) all became pro public transport instead, and talked about accessibility as a use for cars.
But everything is always so definite, "cars bad", no room for any margin around use -

@Tattooed_Mummy I'm hopeful that one day, most people who don't need to use a car will have stopped, which will make it a lot easier for those who do need a car (either all the time or occasionally) to get around more safely, quickly, conveniently, and with less worry about parking.
