@alex_mastodon@fbobraga@dotjayne@Sconient so, we all agree that it's possible to sell an Internet company for hundreds of millions of dollars and still work for the good of the world?
@fbobraga@alex_mastodon@dotjayne@Sconient we all agree that Brewster Kahle sold Alexa and started the Internet Archive. But there's some question whether he's currently a billionaire.
@alex_mastodon@fbobraga@dotjayne@Sconient yes, that is definitely a failing of the people who've done so well. Brewster might be one of the exceptions that prove the rule.
@dougmerritt@fbobraga@dotjayne awesome. So we can all agree that humans act pro socially up until their net worth is $999,999,999 and that extra dollar turns them into a sociopath
@evan@dotjayne it tells it? I've read something about "IA" in it... (this is confounding in Portuguese, my main language: it refers to artificial intelligence - "Inteligência Artificial" here)
@dougmerritt@fbobraga@dotjayne fair. I am just saying that a) Brewster Kahle is rich and b) he founded Internet Archive. I don't know why it's important whether he's strictly a billionaire or not.
@evan@fbobraga@dotjayne Note that up until now I was not arguing anything, just interpreting wikipedia.
But since you insist on being aggressive, no, I disagree. Many humans are *born* sociopaths, and that quite clearly assists the process of becoming very rich.
(There are exceptions; I'm not claiming a universal law or anything)
