Televised "black vs jew" verbal slapfight over Israel and October 7. Whiny, biased, leading, yet very mild pro-Israel questions at black semi-intellectual causes sensitive-child employees to burst into tears, leading employer CBS to offer trauma counseling and almost forcing the television news "journalist" to attend DEI struggle session, until he reminded them about the Holocaust.
If there was a white nationalist version of The Onion they would find it hard to make a sillier scenario than this.
@sun I don't know if those really compare. Someone's articles might be something they whipped up in an hour but books can be refined over many months or years
@feld could be. I agreed with him in this interview, which definitely was unfair. Coates didn't even make a stink about it, he thought it was fine lol. I don't think you have to be smart though to take the position he took, it does take moral courage though so I respect him for that.
@feld I didn't give you any evidence, I no longer do point by point refutations of garbage, it convinces no one and requires reading garbage. I am not going to be upset if you reject my opinion on it completely because I didn't provide any evidence.
But I surely can say that if he makes his reputation on being an intellectual then the scenario that all his articles are bad (again not just middling but actually bad) but his books are good isn't worth entertaining either.
@sun@shitposter.world it think it's very illustrative just how psychotic and evil israel and their supporters are that even an oaf like coates, someone who is fully submerged in the elite liberal propaganda bubble, can take one good look at the genocidal white ethnostate they've created and realize "oh this is bad and we shouldn't be supporting this"
@anemone I'm glad that at least one other person has read his stuff and came to the conclusion that he's just worthy at all of the praise he constantly gets
@sun@shitposter.world i've only read a few of his articles (none of his books) but it seems on par with paid op-ed slop that "news" companies like to shit out. I do think he deserves a ton of credit for this interview though since moral courage is something in even shorter supply in the public sphere these days
@anemone I did in fact say the same thing! This undoubtedly goes against a bunch of people that normally would kiss his ass. It might be a cynical calculation to sell more of his book but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
@sun@shitposter.world yeah same here, maybe if i read more of him I'd feel differently but my general impression of him is that he's sincere, he just doesn't actually have much to say generally
@sun@shitposter.world which, for once, is actually quite adequate for this situation since, contrary to what zionist freaks will say, the basic morality of the israel-palestine conflict is not complicated
