@gsuberland @whitequark I mean 1000base-T and all baseT1 use hybrids to bidir each pair. This is nothing new.
Surprised they rolled their own though, did T1 not exist when HEC was created?
@whitequark l always assumed they were doing something like 100BASE-T1 down the sideband pins, rather than glomming the signals down the actual video data lines using what is essentially the same trick POTS used to have both directions of audio going down a single twisted pair.
