     @lanodan it's weird because it wants to tell a story that can only be told that way.
     
     it uses so many metaphors and such an odd art style and setting because it wants you to relate to the characters and feel true sympathy. to see beyond their bodies. to make no assumptions about them. to recognize how they're all living, feeling beings who can't take their lives for granted. they grow on you, more than in most other anime, even if they're simplistic and often have big flaws.
     
     they grow on you and you care about them the way you might care about a pet. it hurts to see them suffer and die.
     
     it shows you your own empathy; how precious every life and every person around you can be to you. and then it treats them like we humans treat each other every day because we forget how to see the irreplaceable soul in each and every one of us.
     
     cc @vivi bc we briefly talked about ghibli movies yesterday and this show has a message and way of conveying it that reminds me of them

     @mia Yeah, just feels too close to like nightmare material to me, like the only dreams/nightmares I remember are very vague&abstract (near aphantasia moment I guess).
     So I watched few episodes and then stopped because I felt like it would curse me for a while, and I'm saying this with having watched horror and depressive shows since fine.
     (Although I also dropped Clannad, different but I also feel like it would curse me with sadness)

     @lanodan it's making me cry a lot this time because of what I've been going through this year. some people have become very precious to me because of who they are through all that, and i am grateful beyond words to have them in my life.
     
     just watching the intro with lucy next to me is deeply moving. it doesn't matter what bodies we're stuck in, or how little the world cares whether we live or die. i love her and i need her by my side.
