     @lebronjames75 @sun @moth_ball it's more convenient to use due to lack of some other functionality in DMs, i.e. DM notifications are lost in steam of replies, favs etc, chat notifications are right there, separate, counter visible. Chat view is also lighter and loads faster with less lag compared to DM thread that grown like a cancer.
     
     Besides groups there are some arbitrary limitations that I still don't understand like only one attachment per message, no polls.
     
     Really it's the lack of support both from clients and from other servers. First is just a "it's mastodon lol" problem and other is protocol problem, apparently servers will ALWAYS behave like they do support <thing> i.e. reply with a 200 OK even if they don't support something, idk, sounds like BS to me
